For the set we wanted Lucinda to be surrounded by ancestral rocks inspired by Black Obsidian, a volcanic rock that represents grounding and protection, and Gongshi (scholar's rock) which are native to China. The black sand was used around the edges of the rocks to blend them into the surrounding black environment. In the red world, branches were suspended with roses at different heights framing Lucinda's body and creating depth in the space.
